Strategy and Guidelines

All worship services for the next three weeks will be via Facebook Live and conference call. We resume public worship when it is safe to do so. Meanwhile our designated task force with due diligence will follow protocol in cleaning and making our sacred space safe. All rehearsals, activities, and services are cancelled during this time. Please stay tuned for future notices.

RECENT UPDATE:

Make Health and Nutrition a Priority During Coronavirus (COVID-19) Pandemic

"Those who live in the shelter of the Most High will find rest in the shadow of the Almighty. This I declare about the Lord: God alone is our refuge, our place of safety; God is our God and we trust God. For God will rescue us from every trap and protect us from deadly diseases. God will cover us with God's feathers. God will shelter us with God's wings. God's faithful promises are our armor and protection." Psalm 91:1-4 (NLT)

Grace and Greetings Real Power Family & Community,

We pray that you are prospering and in good health even as your soul prospers.  We declare this for all of us as we find ourselves in challenging times that can cause anxiety and fear. Especially with news of the coronavirus (COVID-19). We want you to know that Pastor Hayes and the RP leadership is monitoring the situation and taking advice from the Council of Bishops, the MD. Dept. of Health, the Prince George's County Dept. of Health, as well as the CDC.

Know that we are praying for you and stand on the Word of God in Psalm 91:1-4. We ask that you do the same when you find yourself, your family members or co-workers feeling anxious. We declare that the peace of God will guard our hearts and we will trust in our God to bring us through. Please avail yourself and invite others to our 6:00 a.m. prayer call each day and our Real Talk Bible Study each Wednesday at 7:00 on Real Power FB Live to strengthen your faith. The health and safety of our Real Power family and community is important to us and is our number one priority. Therefore, it is vital that we communicate to you what we are doing as your church family to provide a safe and clean worship environment.

What We Are Doing:

  • We are thoroughly cleaning all high contact areas (countertops, doorknobs, desktops, windowsills and faucet handles) with the prescribed disinfectant. Our Trustees and maintenance company will continue to do so as long as necessary and as a part of our regular maintenance.

  • We will have sanitation stations in various areas in the church for your use.

  • We are making plans to continue our worship experiences via live streaming should public gatherings be discouraged for a limited time.

What You Can Do:

  • We are a loving and expressive family, however, for the time being we are encouraging "Wakanda" style greetings for now, (fists to heart/chest) and foregoing any hugging or handshakes. Don't worry, it won't be long before we can give our neighbor a holy hug or handshake!

  • If you or your children are not feeling well and are having any flu-like or upper respiratory symptoms, please be considerate of others, especially our vulnerable populations and stay home and take care of yourself. Make sure you see your doctor.

  • Properly and frequently wash your hands with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. Using hand sanitizer if necessary if there is no access to soap and water.

  • Do not touch your eyes, nose or mouth with unwashed hands.

  • Visit the sanitation stations when you arrive and before leaving the church. We will have handouts if you need further information.

  • Maintain your peace! Monitor the time that you spend on social media and television, especially the news. Don't inundate yourself with words and images that will raise your stress levels and cause anxiety. Do this especially with children.

  • Come to Church! Don't miss worship unless you have to and it's required. We need to feed our faith and encourage one another. Reach out for support if you feel overwhelmed.

Please refer to any handouts or here on our website for updated information. We will continue to stay informed and keep you abreast in the coming days and weeks. We will continue to pray and serve and Real Power will continue to be a safe and sacred space for all people to experience the power of God's love.
